Snake Stories at Milton’s Cottage

Join us for snake stories and snake sculptures at Milton’s Cottage, and help create a serpentine ceramic installation for our garden.
Milton’s “infernal serpent” plays a central role in Paradise Lost, and we’re celebrating all things serpentine during the Lunar Year of the Snake. From Quetzalcoatl to Kaa, Vasuki to the Incredibly Deadly Viper, join us to explore snakes in fact and fiction in the garden at Milton’s Cottage.
In this free drop-in workshop, you’ll learn more about the vital role that snakes play in our ecosystems, and help create a snake-friendly environment for our garden. Inspired by a series of snake-themed story prompts and activities, you’ll also make your own snake stories and sculptures, culminating in a shared outdoor snake sculpture that will be exhibited in our garden.
No booking is required, just walk in!
Accessibility: Our museum has step-free access, though we have obtruding door frames and uneven floors that require temporary ramps to be put in place for wheelchair access. Our garden has step-free access, though there are some uneven paths, rough terrain and a steep incline towards the back.
