Creative Catalyst brings together mentoring, learning and connection to support existing, emerging and aspiring leaders across arts, culture and heritage in Bucks.
What is Creative Catalyst?
Creative Catalyst is Bucks Culture’s mentoring programme for people who are helping shape arts, culture and heritage across Buckinghamshire.
It brings together existing, emerging and aspiring leaders from different backgrounds, disciplines and career stages, offering space to reflect, build confidence, strengthen skills and move forward with greater clarity.
Whether someone is leading an organisation, developing a creative practice, working independently, building a project or beginning to recognise their own leadership potential, Creative Catalyst is there to support the next step.
Time, support & the right conversations
Creative work often happens alongside busy jobs, freelance commitments, caring responsibilities, community activity and the everyday reality of trying to make things happen with limited time and resources.
Creative Catalyst creates space to pause and think properly.
Each mentee is matched with a mentor who can offer perspective, encouragement and constructive challenge. Alongside one-to-one mentoring, the programme brings the cohort together through training, networking and shared learning opportunities.
The aim is not to provide quick fixes or ready-made answers. It is to help people work through the questions, challenges and ambitions that matter most to them, and build the confidence and capacity to take meaningful action.
What Creative Catalyst Supports
Creative Catalyst is designed to support development in areas such as:
- Leadership and confidence
- Creative, organisational and strategic development
- Community-focused and inclusive practice
- Project planning, sustainability and income generation
- Communications, marketing and audience development
- Sector knowledge, networks and new opportunities
Each mentoring relationship is shaped around an agreed focus, project or challenge, so support can respond to the individual and the work they are trying to move forward.

Creative Catalyst is Underway!
Our first Creative Catalyst cohort is now underway, with mentees beginning their mentoring journeys, shared learning and new connections across Buckinghamshire’s creative and cultural sector.
Applications for the 2025/2026 cohort are now closed, but we’ll be sharing stories, reflections and the impact of the programme as it develops. Information about future opportunities to join Creative Catalyst will also be shared here and through the Bucks Culture newsletter and social channels.
